Happy "New" Year

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Yes, it's been forever since I posted, but I've been very busy. OK, that's an excuse, but it's true. Work has been extremely busy, but that's GOOD.

What's been going on in the world of make-up and products? Hmmmm.

  1. New places to find discounted cosmetics and products
  2. Make-up for my dance recital
  3. Hair products from Whole Foods

It's been a crazy year with this crazy economy so it's good to know there are places to find discounted beauty products. Where to start?

The first place I found was the Bath and Body Works store in Woodbridge Mall. I just happened to be at the store in January/early February to walk around. Of course, I couldn't resist going in. As I was looking around, the usual full line of high-end products was missing. Turns out they're simplifying their lines and were getting rid of products such as Freeze 24/7. I found a pot of their facial cream for $15, which was originally $65! Great!

Also, a good place to go is TJ Maxx. I found Be Fine products at a discount along a variety of other products. They don't have a regular line, but if you live close and can keep in touch with the salespeople, you might get some really good buys. They also had beauty appliances like hair straighteners that had been returned and out for resale since they couldn't be resold at retail. The only thing I could tell that was different was that the packaging was in shambles, but no big deal if it works.

I have to say that even though I'm very busy practicing for my recital, the best part is the costumes and makeup that I get to buy. Last week, I went to Joyce Leslie, a cheap clothing store that also has cheap makeup. There were several eyeshadow palettes for $3.49-3.99. I got a fun one with 12 shades with glitta! What's dance without glitter and lots of it. This weekend, I'm headed to Ulta to find a nice lipstick and maybe some glow foundation. :))))

The third thing on the list is the selection of beauty products at Whole Foods. They're a bit more expensive, but the store near me has a huge selection of natural products that I can't wait to try more when we have more money!
